4M2: Furnace
Furnace Concept
The boat is equipped with a Kabola Diesel
circulating hot water heating System. The furnace is in
the engine room, and heats hot water circulated for
heating throughout the boat; it also has a "heat
exchanger" that heats fresh water for the sinks, showers
and washer. It burns Diesel fuel from one of the main
tanks, using about two quarts/hour.
A master switch is at the furnace in the engine
room (normally "On"), while everyday operation is
controlled by thermostats to regulate the temperature.
Individual blowers, each with its own "off-low-high"
switch then force the air into each area of the boat from
small heat exchangers. In addition, the furnace has an
"Everhot" heat exchanger that supplies hot water to the
boat's faucets. If the furnace is "On", that's all you need to do!
Furnace Controls

Furnace Operation
(1) Set the controls (above) to the desired mode.
(2) In any area of the boat, turn the thermostat slider switch to "On".
(3) Set the thermostat to the desired temperature. (See "Thermostats" below.)
The furnace's built-in computer will warm up the furnace, supply heat until the thermostat
senses it is warm enough, then the furnace will go through a "cool-down" cycle. You need not do
anything but set the thermostat with the switch "on"!
Diesel furnace will provide heat to the area of that thermostat and also
heat domestic hot water.
the system will use hot water from the port engine's cooling system to
provide heat (just like an automobile heater.)
The furnace operates normally, heating the boat and domestic hot water.
Heats domestic hot water only, no living space heating.

The furnace (red unit) is to port forward in the engine room. Its
main switch is on its aft side (arrow).
Kabola Diesel furnace controls by lower
helm.
