Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP)
The Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) has evolved from the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) to provide faster
spanning tree convergence after a network topology change. Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol will assist in network
link failures, by including alternate (redundant) links to provide automatic backup paths. A basic function of RSTP is
to prevent unintended loops and protect against broadcast storms.
