3.5 Booting Factory-Installed Software

At the console prompt (>>), type setenv boot ''3/rz2/vmunix -a'' and press
Return.
Then type boot and press Return.
See the ULTRIX Guide to Starting the Factory-Installed Software System for
further instructions.

3.6 Booting the Software from a Network

Your system manager will boot the software for you if your workstation is on a
network. Make sure he or she has the following:
The Ethernet station address for your workstation. (See Section 5.6 to find
your Ethernet station address.)

The ULTRIX release notes

3.7 Booting the Software from an External Drive

If you are installing software from a CD–ROM or external tape drive, make
sure you have the following before you begin the software installation:
The Guide to Installing ULTRIX
The ULTRIX release notes
An ULTRIX TK50 Tape Cartridge Kit or an ULTRIX CD–ROM Optical
Compact Disc Kit containing media and installation documents
An optical compact disc or tape drive for loading the compact disc or tape
The owner's guide for the drive you will use
A hard disk drive on which to install the workstation software

3.8 Using the Workstation Software

Once you've installed the software, you can start it up in subsequent sessions
just by typing boot at the console prompt and pressing Return.
The first thing you see once you've booted your workstation software is the
log-in screen. This is where you type your user name and your password, if
you have one. Both your user name and password are given to you by your
system manager when you first begin using your workstation.
