Exiting the Energy Saver Mode

The machine exits the Energy Saver mode by the following instances:
Pressing the <Energy Saver> button on the control panel
Receiving jobs such as print and fax
Selecting [Apply] in CentreWare Internet Services
Setting a document in the document feeder
Opening the document cover
Detecting human presence by the Smart WelcomEyes of the machine
Note
When the following device is connected to the machine and a user performs the following
operation, the Low Power mode can be deactivated without pressing the <Energy Saver>
button.
Touch the IC Card Reader (optional) with a card.

Smart WelcomEyes

The machine provides human detection feature called Smart WelcomEyes. When Smart
WelcomEyes detects human presence within the range of approximately 35cm from the
machine front, it operates as follows:
Deactivation of the Energy Saver mode without pressing the <Energy Saver> button
When the sensor detects human presence, and the Energy Saver mode is released and
then exited.
Prohibition of entering the Energy Saver mode
While the sensor is detecting human presence, the machine does not enter the Energy
Saver mode.
Prohibition of Auto Clear
While the sensor is detecting human presence, Auto Clear does not work.
When the sensor detects human presence, the indicator of Smart WelcomEyes is lit on.
Note
• When the machine enters the Sleep mode, it takes longer time to exit the Energy Saver mode than
when the machine enters the Low Power mode.
• The Sleep mode cannot be deactivated by the operations. When the above devices are connected
to the machine, you can make the machine exit the Energy Saver mode without pressing the
<Energy Saver> button by setting longer time to elapse until the machine enters the Sleep mode.
• When the machine enters the Sleep mode during connecting the IC Card Reader (optional), it may
take longer time to exit the Energy Saver mode.
• To suspend a part of entire feature of Smart WelcomEyes, refer to "5 Tools" > "Common Service
Settings" > "Energy Saver Settings" >"Smart WelcomEyes" in the Administrator Guide.
• If you wear the cloth which reflects light such as a lame clothing and a sequin clothing, the feature
may not work properly.
• The detectable range of Smart WelcomEyes can be changed to the range up to approximately 60
