REMOVE THE SWINGARM

1. Check
• Swing arm free play
a. Check the tightening torque of the pivot shaft
nut.
35 Nm (3.5m •kg, 25 .3 ft • Ib)
Swingarm free play
1.0 mm (0.04 in)
b. Check the swingarm side play
ing it from side to side. If side play is noticeable,
check the spacer, bearings and frame pivot.
c. Check the swingarm vertical movement
moving it up and down. If vertical movement
is tight or rough, or if there is binding, check
the spacer, bearings and frame pivot.
2. Remove
• Pivot shaft nut
• Pivot shaft
• Swingarm

CHECKING THE SWINGARM

1. Check
• Swingarm
2. Check
• Pivot shaft
Roll the axle on a flat surface.
WARNING
Do not attempt to straighten a bent pivot shaft.
3. Clean
• Pivot shaft
• Spacer
Recommended cleaning solvent
Kerosene
