6.6.6 PAPER TRANSFER AND DISCHARGE
Transfer Roller
The transfer roller [A] is always pressed against the image transfer belt by pressure from a
spring. The transfer roller moves toner images [B] from the transfer belt to the paper. When
a sheet of paper [C] goes between the transfer roller and the transfer belt, the transfer roller
turns with the paper.
Paper Transfer Bias
The high voltage power supply (HVPS) supplies electricity to the transfer roller. The
transfer roller is positively charged. The right end of the transfer unit is attached to the
terminal from the HVPS when you close the front cover.
Discharge Plate
The transfer unit has a discharge plate [D] above the transfer roller. The discharge plate
removes charge that was applied to the paper during paper transfer. This helps paper
move away from the transfer roller.
