Ignition switch

In cars with automatic transmission, the
remote control can only be removed when
the selector lever is in position P.
WARNING
• Always remove the remote control
before leaving children unattended in
the car.
• Apply the handbrake before removing
the remote control.
• Never remove the remote control
while the car is moving. This will acti-
vate the steering wheel lock and make
it impossible to steer the car.
To allow the various systems in the car time
to register that the remote control has been
inserted into the ignition switch, do not turn
the remote control for roughly 0.5 of a
second.
Position 1
The position lights, hazard warning lights
and interior lighting can be turned on.
Cars with automatic transmission
Set the selector lever to position P.
The selector lever is locked in position. This
is the only position in which the remote con-
trol can be removed.
Cars with manual gearbox
The remote control can be removed regard-
less of the gear lever position.
Position 2
Parts of the electrical system are operative.
Do not leave the remote control in this
position since this can drain the battery
in a matter of hours.
NOTICE
If the remote control is turned from posi-
tion 3 to this position before the car is sta-
tionary, it may be impossible to turn it to
position 1. If this is the case, turn the
remote control to position 3 until the
ABS light goes out, approx. 2 seconds.
Then turn it back to this position.
Cars with automatic transmission
The selector lever is not blocked. See also
page 138.
