E1
A wideband digital interface operating at 2.048Mbps, defined by ITU
recommendations G.703 and G.704. It is used primarily outside North America.
Factory Profile
There are a group of the preset values that defined by the manufacturer. It is easy
to be setup by the user without knowledge about the network connection.
FCC (Federal Communication Commission)
The Board of Commissioners that regulates all electrical communications that
originate in the United States.
Frame Relay
A packet-switching protocol for connecting devices on a Wide Area Network
(WAN). In the U.S., Frame Relay is quite popular because it is relatively
inexpensive. However, it is being replaced in some areas by faster technologies,
such as ATM.
HDSL (High-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Loop)
It provides high bandwidth, bi-directional transmission over copper wire for both T1
and E1 Service.
Host
A computer system on a network.
Hub
A hardware device for interconnecting network equipment.
ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol)
An extension to the Internet Protocol (IP) defined by RFC 792. ICMP supports
packets containing error, control, and informational messages. The PING
command, for example, uses ICMP to test an Internet connection.
IP (Internet Protocol)
IP specifies the format of packets, also called datagrams, and the addressing
scheme. Most networks combine IP with a higher-level protocol called Transport
Control Protocol (TCP), which establishes a virtual connection between a
destination and a source.
IP Address (Internet Protocol Address)
The address assigned to an internet host.
IPX (Internetwork Packet Exchange)
A communication protocol used by NetWare networks. The IPX protocol transfers
data from Novell severs to connected workstations.
ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network)
A telephone company protocol that provides digital data and voice traffic over
telephone networks.
ISP (Internet service Provider)
A business that offers access subscriptions to the Internet.
