Configuring SSID Settings

The SSID tab displays the virtual access point (VAP) settings associated with the default AP profile. Each VAP has an
associated network, which is identified by its network number and Service Set Identifier (SSID). Each radio in the
configuration profile has 16 VAPs/SSID to configure but, when the profile is applied to a DWL-x500AP, only the first 8 VAPs
are applied and the rest 8 VAPs are ignored. This is because the DWL-x500AP supports 8 VAPs. All 16 VAPs are applied
to a DWL-8600AP.
VAPs segment the wireless LAN into multiple broadcast domains that are the wireless equivalent of Ethernet VLANs. To a
wireless client, each VAP appears to be a single physical access point. However, since the VAPs use the same channel,
there is no risk of RF interference among the networks that are on a single AP.

Description
When an IEEE 802.11n mode is selected, configure either Auto or Off for 802.11n protection.
Not all countries that allow 802.11b/g/a also allow 802.11n. If the administrator selects a mode
other than 802.11n, then the 802.11n Protection field is disabled.
When an IEEE 802.11n mode is selected, select either 20 MHz or 40MHz. If the administrator
selects a mode other than 802.11n, then the Channel Bandwidth field is disabled.
When an IEEE 802.11n mode is selected, select either Lower or Upper as the primary
channel. If the administrator selects a mode other than 802.11n, then the Primary Channel
field is disabled.
