Using FTP

Editing the config file
Notes:
Having assigned an IP address to your AXIS 570/670, as described in
Assigning an IP address on page 36, you can change the AXIS 570/670
parameter settings using the File Transport Protocol (FTP).
Follow the instructions below to edit the config file using FTP:
1. Log in to the AXIS 570/670 by typing:
ftp <host name>
(Windows and OS/2) or in a UNIX shell.
2. Enter the user id and the password. (The default entries are

3. Download the config file to your host by typing:
get config
4. Edit the file using your preferred text editor.
5. Save the config file to the AXIS 570/670 by typing:
put config CONFIG
It is important that the destination file is specified in capital
letters. Otherwise the edits are temporary and will be lost once the
AXIS 570/670 has been powered down.
To edit the config file from a Macintosh you will need FTP
support such as MacTCP, Fetch or Anarchie. The procedure for
editing the file is the same as described above.
The example on the next page shows how to edit the config file using
FTP from a DOS window.
