Features

There are different routes or operational sequences for transferring data
using the Fax2Net and these routes are summarised below.

International faxing

Route: Fax machine (A) $ Fax2Net Server (P) $ Fax2Net Server (Q) $
Fax machine (B)
Connections between A and P and Q and B are through normal telephone
services. Connection between P and Q is by the Internet
Fax data is sent from A to P. P searches for Q (the nearest server to the
destination fax number) and sends the fax data to Q. Q then sends the fax
data to B.

Fax to e-mail

Route: Fax machine (A) $ Fax2Net Server (P) $ Internet Mail Server
(Q) $ Personal Computer (B)
Connection between A and P is through normal telephone services.
Connections between P and Q and Q and B are by the Internet
The e-mail address is transmitted from A to P. P converts the fax data it
has received into an attachment file for an e-mail and sends the e-mail to
the destination address at Q. B then retrieves the e-mail through Q.
Note:
The Fax2Net server converts text into Tiff files to be sent as
attachments to e-mail. If the size of the file exceeds 2 MB, it is
possible that the e-mail may be divided and sent as more than
one message. Please be careful of text volume.

Virtual e-mail

Route: Personal Computer (A) $ Fax2Net Server (P) $ Fax machine (B)
Connection between A and P is by the Internet. Connection between P and
B is through normal telephone services.
B is assigned a virtual e-mail address by P. E-mail is sent from A to P and
converted into fax data. P then sends the fax data to B.
