Solving Problems

This table lists some common problems and their solutions.
Problem
Image background appears
dirty when received at the
other end.
Printed or sent image contains
spots.

Received image is too light.
The machine failed to print re-
ceived fax messages.
Message appears blank at the
other end.
Both transmission and receiv-
ing are impossible.

Causes and solutions
Adjust scan density.
The ADF or exposure glass is
dirty. Clean them.
Make sure that ink or correc-
tion fluid is dry before placing
originals.
Request the sender to increase
image density.
When using moist, rough, or
processed paper, the printed
image may be partly invisible.
Only use recommended pa-
per.
When D appears on the dis-
play, toner is beginning to run
out. Replace the toner car-
tridge soon.
If this happened when the re-
ceive file indicator was lit, a
problem such as run out of pa-
per or toner might disable
printing.
[Store] has been selected for
[Reception File Setting]. Print
the fax messages using a Web
browser or the Printing Stored
RX File function.
When B is lit, load paper into
the cassette.
The original was placed up-
side down. Place it properly.
Make sure that the modular
cord is correctly connected.
The terminal adaptor setting
is incorrect. Check the setting.
