Installation and Configuration Considerations for
FASTPTCP
DRAIN = {YES | NO}
specifies whether FASTPTCP should collect stray input from the printer. If
DRAIN=YES, FASTPTCP issues reads to collect any stray input the printer might
be incorrectly transmitting. If DRAIN = NO, no stray input is collected. Stray input
can occur when a printer is configured for XON-XOFF flow control. The default
value for DRAIN is YES.
DRAINLOG = {YES | NO}
enables a warning message that is issued when stray inbound printer data is
detected (and PROTOCOL=NONE, DRAIN=YES). To enable the warning
message, specify DRAINLOG=YES. The default value of DRAINLOG=NO disables
the message.

The TTAP/TAP option for printers provides for a special status-byte protocol that
reports a printer's operational status. The print process and the Spooler use the
protocol (originally an asynchronous-line protocol) to guarantee job delivery.
TTAP and TAP printers can be connected to AWAN servers or other terminal servers
supporting the TELNET protocol.
