Note. For D-series systems, you must define one PORT using the XNS address for each LAN
controller on which a Xerox printer is installed.

Required Printer Software

To use a Xerox printer with FASTPXNS, the Xerox printer must be equipped with the
Host Interface Processor (HIP) version 3.5 or later software. In addition, a suitable
HIP.LIB file and JSL file(s) must be installed in the printer. Examples of these files can
be found in the following subsections.
HIP Software and the HIP.LIB file
To use a Xerox 4050 printer with FASTPXNS, the printer must have the Host Interface
Processor (HIP) version 3.5 software installed, and the HIP Option Specification file
(HIP.LIB) must be modified so that HIP can correctly receive print jobs from the HP
NonStop system.

Note that this example should be considered only as a starting point for a working
HIP.LIB and not as the only configuration or best configuration.
The optimum setting for the various attributes depends upon the type of jobs being
printed. For further guidance, consult either the appropriate Xerox manual or your
Xerox representative.
