Device Attributes

Spooler device attributes specify printing options for devices (in this case TCP/IP
printers). Device information is specified through the Spoolcom DEV command. For a
complete list of the Spooler device attributes supported by all the FASTP network print
processes, see
Network Printers,
Table 3-2
lists the Spooler device attributes that have special considerations for
FASTPTCP and describes their effect on TCP/IP printers.

Definition
Enables debugging features. This option is intended
for development use only. It does not affect
operations, but does generate additional EMS
events.
Extends (does not erase and overwrite) shadow trace
files. Normally, a shadow trace file is erased at the
beginning of a job. This option allows shadow trace
information for multiple jobs to accumulate in the
shadow file.
Note extending shadow trace files can, potentially,
result in very large shadow files.
As of release ABL of December 2002, this bit is not
used, and existing shadow files are always extended.
Enables the following detailed EMS events for
FASTPTCP: (1) process start, (2) process stop, (3)
print job start, (4) print job complete, (68) print job
resume, and (67) print job error. See
EMS Messages
for detailed descriptions of these
messages.
Writes ASCII text (old 512 text format) messages to
$0 in addition to tokenized event messages. This
option is intended as a temporary measure to allow
users time to adjust EMS filters dependent on the
old-format messages. The default is to suppress the
old-format messages and generate only the
tokenized event messages.
