CHAPTER 4
SELF-DIAGNOSTICS
This document descrines tl1e procedure for entering the
self diagnostic mode and the commanas which are available
in
tnat
mode.
Examples displays are also presented.

Entering Self-diagnostics Mode
The system must be set as described in the steps to follow when
:tter:torming self-diagnostics on the
NWS-1510/1530/1580.
1)
Use one of the two possible input/output device configurations given
below when checking the
NWS-1510/1530/1580.
a) Connect a terminal CNWP-511 or character terminal) to the serial port
(CH. 0) •
b) Connect a color bitmap display (NWP-515) and a keyboara CNWF-410 or
NWP-411) to the internal color bitmap board built into the
W#S-1510/
1530/1580.

on the tests to be performed, one or more testers may need
to be connected· to the NETWORK, SERIAL, or PARALLEL ports.
It may also
be necessary to connect a color bitmap display CNWP-515) ano a keyboard
(NWP-410 or NWP-411) as describea in 1-b above, as they are requirea for
some of the self-aiagnostics checks.
3) Open the front cover and set the aip switch corresponding to bit 6 to
"on".
The settings for the dip switches corresponaing to the other bits
oepend on the input/output device configuration being useo ano are given
below.
a) If a terminal has been connected to the serial port CCH.0), set all
of the other dip switches to "off".
b) If connections have been maae to the internal coloi bitmap boara, set
the
cup
switch corresponding to bit 2 to "on".

Insert the
NWS-1510/1530/1580
self-diagnostics
floppy
disk
into
the
self-diagnostics disk and executed when the NWS-1510/1530/1580 is turned
on.
5) Turn on the NWS-1510/1530/1580.
The self -diagnostics program will be loaded from the self-diagnostics
disk and executed when the NWS-1510/1530/1580 is turned on.
The following aisplay will then appear on the display screen.
