CHECKING THE TIE-ROD BUSHINGS AND
FRONT ARM BUSHINGS
1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.

WARNING
Securely support the vehicle so that there is
no danger of it falling over.
2. Elevate:
• Front wheels
Refer to "REMOVING THE FRONT
WHEELS" on page 4-28.
3. Check:
• Tie-rod bushings and front arm bushings
While holding the front portions of the left and
right front wheels, move the wheels to the left
and right and check for looseness.
Looseness → Tighten the tie-rod nuts, tie-rod
joint bolts, and front arm bolts.
Refer to "FRONT ARMS AND LOWER
BRACKETS" on page 4-76.
TIP
If there is still looseness after tightening the tie-
rod nuts, tie-rod joint bolts, and front arm bolts,
replace the tie rod and/or front arm.

CHECKING THE LINK ARM BEARINGS

1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.

WARNING
Securely support the vehicle so that there is
no danger of it falling over.
2. Elevate:
• Front wheels
Refer to "REMOVING THE FRONT

WHEELS" on page 4-28.
3. Check:
• Link arm bearings
Hold the front fork legs and move them up
and down to check the front forks for smooth
operation.
Operation is not smooth → Tighten the link
arm bolts.
Refer to "STEERING HEAD" on page 4-81.
TIP
If the operation is not smooth after tightening the
link arm bolts, replace the link arm bearings.

CHECKING THE CHASSIS FASTENERS

Make sure that all nuts, bolts, and screws are
properly tightened.
Refer to "CHASSIS TIGHTENING TORQUES"
on page 2-15.

LUBRICATING THE LEVERS

Lubricate the pivoting point and metal-to-metal
moving parts of the levers.

CHECKING THE SIDESTAND

1. Check:
• Sidestand operation
Check that the sidestand moves smoothly.
Rough movement → Repair or replace.
