ASSEMBLING THE FRONT BRAKE MASTER
CYLINDER

WARNING
• Before installation, all internal brake com-
ponents should be cleaned and lubricated
with clean or new brake fluid.
• Never use solvents on internal brake com-
ponents.

CYLINDER
1. Install:
• Brake master cylinder
• Brake master cylinder holder "1"
Front brake master cylinder hold-
er bolt
11 Nm (1.1 m·kgf, 8.0 ft·lbf)
TIP
• Install the brake master cylinder holder with the
"UP" mark "a" facing up.
• Align the projection "b" on the brake master cyl-
inder holder with the hole "c" in the handlebar.
• First, tighten the upper bolt, then the lower bolt.

2. Install:
• Copper washers "1"
• Front brake hose "2"
• Brake hose union bolt "3"

29 Nm (2.9 m·kgf, 21 ft·lbf)

Proper brake hose routing is essential to in-
sure safe vehicle operation.

NOTICE
When installing the brake hose onto the
brake master cylinder, make sure the brake
pipe touches the projection "a" as shown.
TIP
Turn the handlebar to the left and right to make
sure the brake hose does not touch other parts
(e.g., wire harness, cables, leads). Correct if
necessary.

3. Install:
• Brake lever cable joint "1"
(to the front brake lever knocker "2")
TIP
Install the brake lever cable joint so that the slot
"a" is positioned as shown in the illustration.
4. Install:
• Front brake lever cover "1"
TIP
Fit the front brake lever cover over the bolt head
of the front brake lever pivot bolt "a" and fit the
hole in the cover over the end of the bolt "b".
