Fault handling

The system uses two fault categories:
• Warnings
• Alarms
Warnings have no direct effect on operation. Faults may occur if warnings are not heeded.
Warnings are automatically acknowledged as soon as the cause of the warning ceases to
exist.
An alarm results in a system shutdown. This does not apply if the power converter that has
caused the alarm is tagged as "electrically isolated" in the system (see section Start/Stop
(Emergency start) (Page 73)).
Certain alarms trigger shutdown routine 3 in response to a fault. This can only be
acknowledged by an "ETechAcknowledge". All other faults can be acknowledged with the
normal "Acknowledge" command.

Setpoints

The following setpoints can be managed when the SIMOCRANE ESSM Step7 library is used:
DCLinkVoltageSetp
The value must be set to match the currently selected operating mode. In other words, the value
must be adjusted when the operating mode changes.
"Black Start"
The following setting ranges apply for "Black Start" mode:
Power
120 kW
The power converters will regulate the DC link voltage to match this setpoint.
"Peak Shaving"
The following setting ranges apply for "Peak Shaving" mode:
Power
120 kW
In "Peak Shaving" mode, the measured DC link voltage is continuously compared to the
selected setpoint. If the DC link voltage dips below a defined hysteresis, the system is
supplied and stabilized with power from the energy storage device. The limit for boosting/
recuperation is "V-DCSetpoint" ± 10.0 V in "Peak Shaving" mode. By contrast, if the DC link
voltage rises above a defined hysteresis, power is transferred from the DC link to the energy
storage device.
This value must match the voltage setpoint of the relevant ALM infeed.
