Brake Assembly Replacement

About

This procedure provides instruction to replace the Brake Assembly. The brake assembly
includes the EMS brake and Holding brake assemblies.

Procedure

Review entire procedure before starting.
WARNING: When the drive belt or drive chain is removed, the stairs freely move.
Any pressure on the steps will cause the stairs to move. Keep hands and fingers
clear of any step chain, drive chain, or stair step pinch points.
Removal
1. Switch the power OFF and disconnect the power cord (slide the red release tab
reward to unlock).
2. Remove the following covers:
Top cover (see )
l
Forward Upper/Lower Access covers (see )
l
Side Access Covers (see )
l
Base cover (see )
l
3. Remove the Drip Shield, see .
4. Set the Holding Brake handle to OFF (all the way back). This will allow the drive belt
and stairs to move.
