Back up the database on the primary Database Server.
Approximate time estimate = 15 minutes

Backing up the primary database

Install primary Linux patches (if required)

Install Linux patches on all primary servers.
Approximate time estimate = 10 minutes

Action
Log on to the primary Database Server as oracle.
Change the directory:
cd /var/mcp/run/MCP_9.1/<dbName>_0/bin/util/
Run the backup script:
./dbBackup.sh <db_user> <db_password>
<backup_name> DISK
Change the directory:
cd /var/mcp/backup/orabackup
Copy the backup to another server.
Log off as oracle:
exit
