Removing a wheel
Requirements:
The vehicle is raised (
page 431).

When changing a wheel, avoid applying any force
to the brake discs, as this could impair the level of
comfort when braking.
* NOTE Damage to the wheels' plastic ele-
ments when changing a wheel
Plastic elements on wheels may be damaged
when removing and repositioning the wheel.
Do not raise the wheels by the plastic
#
elements when removing and reposition-
ing.
* NOTE Damage to threading from dirt on
wheel bolts
Do not place wheel bolts in sand or on a
#
dirty surface.
Unscrew the uppermost wheel bolt com-
#
pletely.
Screw centring pin
1
into the thread instead
#
of the wheel bolt.
Unscrew the remaining wheel bolts com-
#
pletely.
Remove the wheel.

Fit the new wheel (

Fitting a new wheel
Requirements:
The wheel to be changed is removed and the

centring pin is screwed in (

& WARNING Risk of accident from losing a
wheel
Oiled or greased wheel bolts can cause the
wheel bolts to come loose, as too can dam-
aged wheel bolts or wheel hub threads.
Never oil or grease the threads.

In the event of damage to the threads,
#
contact a qualified specialist workshop
immediately.
Have the damaged wheel bolts or dam-
#
aged hub threads replaced.
Do not continue driving.
#
Observe the information on the choice of tyres
#
(
page 426).

For tyres with a specified direction of rotation, an
arrow on the side wall of the tyre indicates the
correct direction of rotation. Observe the direc-
tion of rotation when fitting.
