If drowsiness or increasing lapses in concentra-
tion are detected, the
ATTENTION ASSIST: Take
a break!
warning appears in the driver's display.
You can acknowledge the message and take a
break where necessary. If you do not take a break
and ATTENTION ASSIST continues to detect
increasing lapses in concentration, you will be
warned again after a minimum of 15 minutes.
The following information is displayed in the driv-
er's display:
The length of the journey since the last break
R
The attention level determined by ATTENTION
R
ASSIST.
The more segments

of the circle displayed,
the higher the detected attention level. Fewer seg-
ments
1
are displayed in the circle as the atten-
tion level decreases.
If ATTENTION ASSIST is unable to calculate the
attention level and cannot issue a warning, the
System suspended
message appears.
If a warning is given in the driver's display, the
multimedia system offers to search for a rest
area. You can select a rest area and start naviga-
tion to this rest area.
When you restart the vehicle, ATTENTION ASSIST
is automatically switched on. The last selected
sensitivity level remains stored.
System limits
ATTENTION ASSIST is active in the 60 km/h to
200 km/h speed range.
If the system is not available due to an error, the
warning light is permanently lit Û in the driver
display

Particularly in the following situations, ATTENTION
ASSIST only functions in a restricted manner and
warnings may be delayed or not occur:
If you have been driving for less than approx-

imately 30 minutes.
If the road condition is poor (uneven road sur-
R
face or potholes).
If there is a strong side wind.
R
If you adopt a sporty driving style (high corner-
R
ing speeds or high rates of acceleration).
If the Steering Assist function of Active Dis-
R
tance Assist DISTRONIC is active.
If the clock is set to the incorrect time.
R
If you change lanes and vary your speed fre-
R
quently in active driving situations.
Also observe any information regarding display
messages that can be displayed in the driver's
display.
The ATTENTION ASSIST drowsiness or alertness
assessment is reset and restarted when continu-
ing the journey in the following situations:
If you switch off the vehicle.
