C L E A N T O P O F P I S T O N S A N D TOP O F BLOC K
(a) Tum the cra n k s h a f t and bring each piston
dead cen t er. Using a gasket scraper, remove all t h e
carbon f r o m t h e piston top.
(b) Remove a l l t h e gasket m a terial from t h e t o p of the
tel
b l o c k .
Blow c a r b o n and o i l from t h e bolt holes.
W A R N I N G :
pressure air.
2 . R E M O V E GASKET MATERIAL
U s i n g a gasket s c ra per, remove all the g a s k e t material
from the manilold a nd head surface.
CAUTIO N :

U s i n g a wire brush, remove aU the carbon from the c o m ­
b u s t i o n chambers.
