U s i n g a mag n e t i c fing er, remove t h e s t e e l b a l l f r o m t h e
c l u t c h s h a f t hole.

R e m ove the t h ree screws.
Remove the following

( 1 ) S t a rter h o u s i n g
assembly
C l u t c h
( 2 )
(3 )
Return spring
( 4 ) Idle gear
( 5 ) Bea r i n g
(6) P l a t e washer
Remove t h e t w o screws a n d end c o v e r from t h e field
frame
U s i n g a sc rewdriver, hold the s pring back and d i s ­
c o n n e c t t h e b r u s h f r o m the b r u s h holder. Disconnect
the fOur brushes and remove t h e brush hol der.
