Installing the ServeRAID Manager program

The ServeRAID Manager program is an IBM ServeRAID program that monitors your ServeRAID
controllers while your operating system is up and running.
The ServeRAID Manager program for Microsoft Windows NT, 95, and 98, Novell NetWare, IBM OS/2 and
SCO UnixWare provides a graphical interface that you can use to monitor ServeRAID configuration
changes being performed on your server while your server is fully operational. You can create an array,
delete an array, create a logical drive, change the RAID level, dynamically increase the logical drive size,
rebuild an array, configure your ServeRAID controllers in a failover environment, configure a cluster, and
perform other ServeRAID configuration functions.

Installing on Windows NT, Windows 98, or Windows 95

Note: This version of the ServeRAID Manager program supports up to eight ServeRAID controllers when
using Microsoft NT 3.5 and 12 ServeRAID controllers when using Microsoft NT 4.0.
To install the ServeRAID Manager program for Windows NT, do the following:
1. Configure your controllers and arrays. See Chapter 3, "Configuring controllers using the ServeRAID
Manager program" on page 17 for information.
2. Install your operating system. See the instructions that came with your server and your operating
system for information.
3. Insert the IBM ServeRAID Support CD into the CD-ROM drive.
4. The installation program starts. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the program.
To use the ServeRAID Manager program, see Chapter 3, "Configuring controllers using the ServeRAID
Manager program" on page 17.

Installing on NetWare

Notes:
1. To install the NetWare version of the ServeRAID Manager program, you must install from a Microsoft
Windows client connected to the NetWare system.
2. ServeRAID does not support NetWare versions older than 4.11.
3. This version of the ServeRAID Manager program supports up to eight ServeRAID controllers when
using NetWare.
