With the boot lid completely open, press and
#
hold the p button on the key. The key
must be in the vicinity of the vehicle.
Vehicles with HANDS-FREE ACCESS
With the boot lid completely opened, make a
#
kicking movement with your foot below the
bumper (
page 81).

Boot lid automatic reversing function
The boot lid is fitted with automatic blockage
detection with a reversing function. If an obsta‐
cle stops the boot lid during the automatic clos‐
ing procedure, it will automatically open again.
The automatic reversing function is only an aid
and is not a substitute for your attentiveness.
During the closing process, make sure that
#
no body parts are in the closing area.
& WARNING Risk of becoming trapped
despite reversing function
The reversing function will not react:
to soft, light and thin objects, e.g. fingers
R
towards the end of the closing procedure
R
In these situations in particular, the reversing
function cannot prevent someone being trap‐
ped.
Ensure that no body parts are in the
#
closing area.
If someone is trapped, use one of the
#
following options:
Press the p button on the key.
R
Press the remote operating switch
R
on the driver's door.
Press the closing or locking button
R
on the boot lid.
Press the top of the Mercedes star
R
on the boot lid.
Opening and closing
HANDS-FREE ACCESS function
With HANDS-FREE ACCESS you can open, close
or interrupt boot lid movement by performing a
kicking movement under the rear bumper.
The kicking movement triggers the opening or
closing process alternately.
Observe the notes when opening (

page 79) the boot lid.
