Conditions for a course-correcting brake
application (vehicles with Driving Assistance
Package)
Depending on the setting, a course correcting
brake application occurs in the following situa‐
tions (
page 214).

The availability of this setting is dependent
on the country. If the function is activated in
countries in which this setting is not availa‐
ble, a lane-correcting brake application is ini‐
tiated in all situations described under
sitive.
Standard
Setting
A lane marking and an approaching vehicle,
R
an overtaking vehicle or vehicles driving par‐
allel to your vehicle were detected in the
adjacent lane. The front wheel drives over
the lane marking.
Sensitive
Setting
The situations described under the
R
setting.
A continuous lane marking was detected and
R
driven over with the front wheel.

A brake application may be interrupted at
any time if you steer slightly in the opposite
direction.
System limits
No lane-correcting brake application occurs in
the following situations:
You clearly and actively steer, brake or accel‐
R
erate.
If a driving safety system intervenes, such as
R
Sen-
®
ESP
, Active Brake Assist or Active Blind
Spot Assist.
You have adopted a sporty driving style with
R
high cornering speeds or high rates of accel‐
eration.
®
When ESP
is deactivated.
R
When driving with a trailer, the electrical con‐
R
nection to the trailer has been correctly
established.
Standard
If a loss of tyre pressure or a defective tyre
R
has been detected and displayed.
If you deactivate the Active Lane Keeping Assist
warning and the lane markings cannot be clearly

detected, it is possible that no lane correcting
brake application takes place (
The system may be impaired or may not function
particularly in the following situations:
If there is poor visibility, e.g. due to insuffi‐
R
cient illumination of the road, if there are
highly variable shade conditions or in rain,
snow, fog or heavy spray.
If there is glare, e.g. from oncoming traffic,
R
the sun or reflections.
If the windscreen in the area of the multi‐
R
function camera is dirty, or if the camera is
misted up, damaged or covered.
If there are no lane markings, or several
R
unclear lane markings are present for one
lane, e.g. around roadworks.
If the lane markings are worn, dark or cov‐
R
ered.
If the distance from the vehicle in front is too
R
short and thus the lane markings cannot be
detected.
