4-43. Verifying Pulse Capture

To access the PULSE menu, press ã key and then select PULSE or press the softkey
under MODE until "pulse" appears.
The following describes each option in the PULSE menu:

15 mV
AMPL Indicates the output level. You can change the pulse amplitude by pressing
the blue key under the "Ampl" menu item. Each press toggles through the available
pulse amplitudes. Max amplitude is 1.5 Vpp.
To change the pulse width, press É once and move the cursor to the pulse width
digit you wish to modify. Alternatively, you can enter in the pulse width value
directly on the 5820A numeric keypad.
To change the pulse period, press É until the cursor is on the second line of the
output display (unlabeled line). Use the cursor and edit wheel to change the value.
Note that periods are not always compatible with the pulse width selected. A beep
sounds if the pulse period is reduced to too low a value. As an example, the pulse
period can not be less then 1 µs for a pulse width of 25 ns. Alternatively, you can
enter the pulse period as a frequency (for example, 1 MHz sets a pulse period of 1
µs).
To change both the width and period, use the keyboard to enter in the pulse width
first immediately followed by the period value. For example,
RMå_Nr_b sets a 50 ns pulse width with a 1 µs
period. Next, press b. Both values will be entered. Default settings are 100 ns
pulse width with a 10 µs period.
TRIG For skew or external trigger, use this menu item.
TRIGGER SKEW Trigger skew modifies the relationship of the output trigger
(channel 5 default) with the output pulse signal. If positive values are selected,
the trigger occurs before the pulse (LEAD). If negative values are selected, the
trigger moves after the pulse (LAG).
