1 Cassette slot
To insert a cassette.
2 Contrast control buttons
To adjust the contrast of the display window.
3 SHUT DOWN (emergency shutdown) hole
To forcibly turn off the power.
Note
Do not use in normal operations. Inadvertently using
this hole may damage the tape inside.
4 Power switch/lamp (green)
To turn the power on and off.
This switch is effective only when the main power
switch on the rear is set to ON ( side).
When you press this switch with power on (the lamp
lit), a shutdown process is executed (if a tape has been
loaded, it is unloaded, etc.), then the power is turned
off.
5 EJECT (emergency eject) hole
If an inserted cassette cannot be ejected, insert a
slender rod through this hole and push.
Note
Do not use in normal operations. Inadvertently using
this hole may damage the tape inside.
For details, see "Emergency eject" (page 14).
6 ERROR lamp (red)

The lamp lights if an error occurs while the unit is
being starting up or during an operation such as
writing or reading data from or to a tape or a load,
unload, initialization, or recovery operation.

7 DTF-2 lamp (green)
This lamp lights in DTF-2 mode.
8 COMP (data compression) lamp (amber)
This lamp is lit during reading of a compressed data
block or writing in Compression mode.

9 I/O lamp (green)
This lamp flashes while an SCSI command of the
interface of this unit is running.

0 LOCK lamp (amber)

This lamp is lit when the panel is locked (Prevent
mode). All the button on the front panel are disabled
while this lamp is lit.
qa SELECT button
To select items on the display in menu operations.
qs ESC (escape) button
To cancel your changes and resume the previous
display in menu operations.
qd UNLOAD button
Press to load/unload a tape.
qf Menu select buttons
To select menu items on the display.
For menu operations, see page 28.
qg ENTER button
Press this button to register changes in menu settings.
qh Display window
Shows the operating status, menus, error messages,
etc.
qj OPTION-1 connector (D-sub 25-pin, female)
(RS-232C)
This is for service use only. Do not use this connector
in normal operations.
qk OPTION-2 connector (D-sub 25-pin, female)
(RS-232C)
For connection with a library, such as DMS series. Do
not use this connector for other purposes.
ql COLLISION lamp (amber)
Lights when any collision in the connected network is
detected.
w; LINK lamp (green)
Lights when the recorder is connected to a network.

is ready to accept SCSI commands and operation of the
buttons on the front panel.
