PVT SYSTEM
ROLLER, PIN, AND THRUST WASHER
INSPECTION
Inspect all rollers, bushings and roller pins by pulling a
flat metal rod across the roller. Turn roller with your
finger. If you notice resistance, galling, or flat spots,
replace rollers, pins and thrust washers in sets of three.
Also inspect to see if roller and bushing are separating.
Bushing must fit tightly in roller. Use the Roller Pin Tool

to replace rollers and pins. Take care not to damage
roller bushing or bearing surface of the new pin during
installation.

BUTTON TO TOWER CLEARANCE
INSPECTION
1. Inspect for any clearance between spider button to
tower. If clearance exists, replace all buttons and
inspect surface of towers.

2. Inspect sheave surfaces. Replace the entire clutch if
worn, damaged or cracked.

BEARING INSPECTION

1. Rotate the clutch bearing in both clockwise and
counter-clockwise directions.
• Non-EBS: The non-braking bearing should rotate
both directions on the shaft with only a slight
amount of drag.
• EBS: The one-way bearing should rotate clockwise
(when viewed from cover plate side) with only a
slight amount of drag. When rotated counter-
clockwise the one-way bearing should lock to the
shaft without slipping.
2. Verify there is no binding or rough spots. If problems
are noted continue with disassembly.
