How to Use the Smoothing Function

The smoothing function "smooths" echo presentation when enabled. This is particu-
larly useful when echoes appear "spotty" or "jagged". Smoothing can also be used to
reduce screen flicker at night.

How to use smoothing for the FCV-38

1. Click the [Sounder] icon (

ternal Fish Finder Window" is set to "Off" at installation
1. Click the [Advanced Settings] icon (

2. Click the [Sounder] item from the [External Fish Finder] menu, on the left-side of
the window. The external fish finder settings are shown on the right-side of the
window.
3. Click the [Smoothing] setting. The drop-down options box appears at the far right-
side of the window.
4. Click the drop-down box, then select the appropriate smoothing level. A high value
increases the amount of smoothing applied to the picture.
5. Click [Apply] to save the current changes and change or adjust other settings.
Click [OK] to save the current changes and close the menu window.
Click [Cancel] to abort all changes and close the menu window.
