Cautionary notes regarding external memory devices
• External memory devices that support USB2.0 or USB3.0 can be used with this equipment. The
maximum useable USB cable lengths are 5 m for USB2.0 and 3 m for USB3.0. When connect-
ing an external memory device via the trackball control unit, keep the total cable length between
the trackball control unit and the device within 5 m.
• Do not use password-locked memory devices.
• Do not remove or disconnect the memory device while data is being saved or loaded. This can
cause data corruption or loss.
• Do not connect, or disconnect, memory devices from the FCV-38 when it is turned on. Turn the
power to the FCV-38 off before connecting or disconnecting a memory device.
• For external hard drives, drives with a separate, external power supply are recommended.
• When recording echo data (see section 3.2), a memory device with 500 GB capacity or higher
is recommended.
• When recording echo data and saving screenshots, connect the memory device to the USB port
of the Processor Unit. Do not connect memory devices to the Trackball Control Unit's USB port.
• Log output can require up to 2.4 GB capacity. Where the memory device has insufficient capac-
ity, the log is output until the capacity is full. Any log entries after that point are not saved.
