Cannot turn off main server
• There is a set order for turning off the components of this system. Make sure
that, after turning off the main server, you turn off the AIT library and then
the cache server. If the components are not turned off in the correct order, the
main server does not turn off. If the cache server has been turned off, try
turning it on again before turning off the main server. Once the main server
has turned off, turn off the cache server again.
Cannot access the system from a web browser
• Make sure the network cable is connected correctly.
• Make sure the ACT LED is blinking on the rear of the main server.
• Make sure the IP address typed into the web browser's address field is correct.
• Make sure no other device is using the same IP address as any of this system's
components.
• Network cables sometimes fail. Try using the cable with another machine to
make sure there is not a problem with it.
• Make sure there is not a problem with the network hub or the hub port that you
have connected to.
• Make sure the main server is turned on.
• Make sure that proxy settings have been configured appropriately. (Do not use
a proxy when connecting via LAN.)
Cannot set up shared access from Windows
• If you are using Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows ME, make sure the
logon name for Windows matches the username registered on this system.
• Make sure there are no other machines on the network with the same
hostname or IP address.
• Change the encryption password settings on the client side to match the
encryption settings for Windows file sharing. For more on making these
settings, refer to "CIFS Client Setting" (page 37) under "[Servers] Menu" in
Chapter 3, "Using the Web Administration Screen".
• It is assumed that this system will be used as a dedicated storage system for
an application server. You should not access it directly from programs such as
Windows Explorer.
Cannot mount a shared drive from UNIX or Linux
• Make sure the shared location to be mounted is correct. For more on
configuring mounts, refer to "Example of an NFS Mount" (page 59) under
"Verifying Mounts" in Chapter 4, "Items to Verify Before Operation".
Cannot save data to the system
• Make sure there is enough free capacity. If not, delete unnecessary files or add
more capacity. You can verify the amount of free capacity by opening the
[Maintenance] menu on the web administration screen and selecting
[Monitor]. For more on adding AIT libraries to increase capacity, contact your
dealer.
AIT library does not start
• Make sure the power switch is turned on.
• Make sure the power cord is connected properly.
• Make sure the shutter covering the cartridge dock is closed.
• Make sure the SCSI terminator is connected properly.
• Make sure the SCSI cables are connected properly.
