Volume Duplicate Management
By duplicating and then managing volumes of the user area, you can increase
the security of data, and store the duplicated data in a remote location.
Perform volume duplication as part of your daily maintenance operation.
Duplicated volumes are displayed in the duplicate area in volume management,
and can be ejected from libraries using the same procedure as offline volume
management.
Note
When this function is activatetd, roughly the same number of volumes as the
user areas are necessary.
Setting up volume duplication management

From the web administration screen, click
[Software Configuration].
The [Software Configuration] screen appears.

From the [Software Configuration] screen, select the [HNF VDM] check
box in [Misc configuration], and then click the [Apply].
When you perform this setting, you must specify the number of volumes to
keep in the library for duplication purposes. Normally, two is
recommended.
When this setting is performed, the [HNF OFM] function is automatically
set up as well. Also, this setting cannot be released under the following
conditions:
• One or more volumes is in the EJECTED status
• One or more volumes is in the Volume Duplication Area
