Application

The Communication Converter S
tion device, which allows serial asynchronous data exchange between two protection
devices. An ISDN Communication Network is used for this purpose. To access the network
the digital synchronous interfaces S
CC–S
converts the data back into data legible for the second protection device (figure 20).
0
This conversion allows two protection devices to exchange data with each other. With two
CC–S
's and one communication connection, it is therefore possible to send data from one
0
protection device to a second device and to receive data from there. For devices with
asynchronous fibre–optic interface 7XV5662-0AB01 must be used. Typical applications are
the protection data interfaces of differential protection, for distance protection and time
overcurrent protection in combination with the binary signal transmitter 7XV5653 it is the
permissive overreach tranfer trip or directional comparison pickup.
The connection to the protection device is made noise–proof via a fibre–optic link. The fibre–
optic link means that this is an optical 820 nm plug–in module in the protection device. For
more details, see SIPROTEC
The data transfer between the protection devices represents a point–to–point connection, it
is bit–transparent.
The CC–S
has the capability to connect two Protection Interfaces in parallel with a data
0
transfer rate of 19.2 kbaud for each interface.
The CC–S
supports simple commissioning of the entire communication paths. The param-
0
eter assignment of the CC–S
output a "device ready" signal (GOK/DR) and also has an extended range power supply unit
covering the entire normal DC and AC auxiliary voltage range. In addition, all important
operating states are signalled by LED's.
