Small form-factor pluggable plus transceivers (SFP+) are enhanced SFP transceivers that provide support
for data rates of up to 10 Gbps for fiber-optic or copper interfaces. SFP+ transceivers are hot-insertable
and hot-removable. Removing an SFP+ transceiver does not interrupt router functioning, but the removed
SFP+ transceiver no longer receives or transmits data.

Remove an SFP+ Transceiver
To remove an SFP+ transceiver:
1. Have ready a replacement transceiver or a transceiver slot plug, an antistatic mat, and a rubber safety
cap for the transceiver.
2. Wrap and fasten one end of the ESD grounding strap around your bare wrist, and connect the other
end of the strap to the ESD point on the chassis.
3. Label the cables connected to the transceiver so that you can reconnect them correctly later.
4. Remove the cable connector from the transceiver. Immediately cover the transceiver and the end of
the cable with a rubber safety cap.
