When must a general reset be performed on SIMOTION P320-4?
If you wish to undo changes in your user data (programs, configuration data, parameter
assignments) in the volatile data area of the SIMOTION P320-4.
NOTICE
Differences when performing a general reset in connection with the RAM to ROM function
The following generally applies:
If no RAM to ROM was executed before the general reset, all programs and parameter
assignments are considered as data deleted on general reset.
If data was backed up with RAM to ROM before the general reset, this data is considered as
data not deleted on general reset.
Data deleted on general reset
The following data is deleted on the SIMOTION P320-4:
● Configuration data
● Programs
● Parameter assignments
● Technology packages
● Data from absolute encoders (absolute encoder adjustment, cyclic range overflows)
Note
Absolute encoder data is deleted during a general reset operation and must, therefore, be
readjusted after the general reset.
● Retain variables
Retain variables are variables that are defined as non-volatile data in the user program by
the key word Retain.
Data not deleted on general reset
The following data is retained:
● Baud rate
● PROFINET IP address / name of the SIMOTION P320-4
● IP addresses
● Contents of the diagnostics buffer
