Power cords

Use these procedures to disconnect and connect the power cords on IBM Power Systems servers that
contain the POWER8 processor.

Disconnecting the power cords from the system

Use this procedure to disconnect the power cords from the system.
To disconnect the power cords from the system, complete the following steps:
1. Open the rear rack door on the system unit that you are servicing.
2. Identify the system unit that you are servicing in the rack.
3. Disconnect the power cords (B) from the system unit. See Figure 143 on page 156, Figure 144 on page
156, or Figure 145 on page 157 or depending on the type of your system.
Notes:
v This system might be equipped with two or more power supplies. If the removing and replacing
procedures require the power to be off, then ensure that all the power sources to the system have
been completely disconnected.
v The power cord is fastened to the system using the hook-and-loop fastener (A). If you are placing
the system in a service position after disconnecting the power cords, then ensure that you unstrap
the fastener.
Figure 140 on page 155 shows the supported alternate current (AC) and high voltage direct current
(HVDC) connectors.Figure 141 on page 155 and Figure 142 on page 155 show the supported
connectors and power distribution unit (PDU) for 8408-44E.
