Faulty Tachometer.
WIRING: Check tor continUIty and short

circuits between meter and spark unit

sensor wire and body ground with
ignition switch ON

between Bu/W terminal of meter white
20P coupler and sensor wire terminal.

METER: Ground sensor wire terminal;
turn Ignition switch ON. Check that
temperature rises by one segment every
1 5 seconds Also check that
temperature decreases by one
segment every 1

seconds by
separating the sensor terminal
from ground.
SENSOR WIRE:
Disconnect meter
white 20P coupler
Check for continuity
between sensor wire
terminal and body
ground.

• Check meter coupler
for loose contact. If
coupler is OK, meter
is faulty.
SENSOR: Connect sensor wire to sensor.
and disconnect meter white 20P coupler.
Measure resistance between Bu/W terminal
of meter 20P whlte coupler (on harness
sidel and body ground. Resistance should
be above 200
n
when engine is cold
(below 40°C!104°F).
Below 200
n
• Check for poor contact between
sensor wire and sensor. If OK.
sensor is faulty.
Above
NOTE:

Resistance will be less when engine
IS
hot.
• Recheck with a known
good meter.
