About network printing
A networked printer is connected to a network without a PC between the printer and network. Depending on printer
options and your needs, the printer can be connected to a print server and then to the network. A PC can connect
to several networked printers at a time, and several PCs can connect to one printer. All PCs with the Smart
Driver™ installed (except client PCs for shared printers) receive status and message information from the printer.
Several types of directly networked connections are possible:
An SP Series Card Printer with the Built-in Ethernet feature can be connected to a network.
The printer can be connected to a print server using a USB cable, and the print server can be connected (using
a network cable) to an existing network.
