    Placing an Original in the Feeder Originals placed in the feeder are automatically fed to the platen glass for scanning. Two-sided orig- inals can also be automatically inverted to scan both sides. You can place the following originals in the original supply tray of the feeder: Weight: 15 to 28-lb.

    Common Functions The machine is equipped with the following energy-saving functions. Sleep Function When the power switch on the control panel is turned to OFF, the touch panel display turns off and the machine enters the sleep mode. The sleep mode helps to conserve power, but there will be a slight delay when starting to use the machine the next time.

    Quiet Mode If the machine is not used for about 15 seconds after the last print job or other task has finished, the machine enters quite mode and all internal mechanical noise stops. NOTE • The time that elapses until the machine enters quiet mode can be set in the range of 15 to 60 seconds. Auto Drawer Switching If the selected paper drawer runs out of paper, the machine will automatically switch to another paper drawer loaded with the same size paper, if available.

    Paper Supply Indicator Function This function shows the remaining amount of paper in each paper drawer. There are four different indicators as shown.
