Changing the Hydraulic Fluid
and Cleaning the Strainer
Service Interval: Every 800 hours
1. Position the vehicle on a level surface, stop the engine,
engage the parking brake, and remove the key from
the ignition switch.
2. Remove the drain plug from the side of the reservoir
and let the hydraulic fluid flow into a drain pan
(Figure 72).
Note: Clean the hydraulic strainer. Refer to
Changing the Hydraulic Fluid and Cleaning the Strainer (page 51).

3. Note the orientation of the hydraulic hose and 90°
fitting connected to the strainer on the side of the
reservoir (Figure 73). Remove the hydraulic hose and
90° fitting.
4. Remove the strainer and clean it by back flushing it with
a clean de-greaser. Allow it to air dry before installing.

5. Install the strainer.
6. Install the hydraulic hose and 90° fitting to the strainer
in the same orientation.
7. Install and tighten the drain plug.
8. Fill the reservoir with approximately 7
l (7.5 qt) of Dexron III ATF. Refer to
Checking the Transaxle/Hydraulic Fluid Level (page 22).
9. Start the engine and operate the vehicle to fill the
hydraulic system. Check the hydraulic oil level and
replenish it, if required.
Important: Use only the hydraulic fluids specified.
Other fluids could cause system damage.

Replacing the Hydraulic Filter

Service Interval: After the first 10 hours
Every 800 hours
Important: Use of any other filter may void the warranty
on some components.
1. Position the vehicle on a level surface, stop the engine,
engage the parking brake, and remove the key from
ignition switch.
2. Clean the area around filter mounting area. Place
a drain pan under the filter and remove the filter
(Figure 74).
