Checking the fuel filter
1. Check the fuel filter element 1. Clean if
there is dirt or residue and replace if
damaged.
2. Check the fuel filter cup 2. Clean with
straight gasoline if there are foreign sub-
stances and replace if cracked.

TIP:
Make sure not to spill any fuel when remov-
ing the fuel filter cup.
Checking the fuel joint and fuel hose
(fuel joint-to-carburetor)
1. Check the fuel hose connections for
leaks. Also, check the fuel joint 1, fuel
hoses, fuel filter 2, fuel pump 3, and
carburetor 4. Replace if there is leakage
or deterioration.

Changing the gear oil

Never get under the lower unit while it is
tilted. Otherwise, the outboard motor
could suddenly lower if the PTT unit
should lose fluid pressure or Hydro tilt
unit should lose gas pressure.
1. Fully tilt the outboard motor up, and then
support it with the tilt stop lever 1.
2. Remove the tilt pin 2, and then install it
in the upper tilt pin hole a.
