6. Install the lower unit to the upper case,
and then tighten the lower unit mounting
bolts 6 and 7 to the specified torque. (L
transom)

Lower unit mounting bolt 6 and 7:
40 N·m (4.0 kgf·m, 29.5 ft·lb)
Install the lower unit and extension 8 to
the upper case, and then tighten the
lower unit mounting nuts 9 and bolt 0 to
the specified torque. (X transom)

40 N·m (4.0 kgf·m, 29.5 ft·lb)
7. Fill the lower unit with gear oil to the cor-
rect level.
Recommended gear oil:
Hypoid gear oil
API: GL-4
SAE: 90
Gear oil quantity:
0.67 L (0.71 US qt, 0.59 Imp qt)
8. Install the propeller q and propeller nut
w. Place a block of wood between the
anti-cavitation plate and propeller to keep
the propeller from turning, and then
tighten the propeller nut to the specified
torque.

Propeller nut w:
35 N·m (3.5 kgf·m, 25.8 ft·lb)
TIP:
If the grooves in the propeller nut w do not
align with the cotter pin hole, tighten the pro-
peller nut until they are aligned.
