4. Connect the ABS ECU coupler (without cou-
pler cover) "1".
TIP
Push both lock plates "2" down simultaneously
to lock the ABS ECU coupler in place.

5. Set the main switch to "OFF".
6. Remove the protective cap and then connect
the test coupler adapter to the ABS test cou-
pler.
7. Set the main switch to "ON".
8. Check:
• ABS ECU voltage
Lower than 12.8 V → Charge or replace the
battery.
Battery voltage
Higher than 12.8 V

a. Connect the pocket tester (DC 20 V) to the
ABS ECU coupler.

• Positive tester probe →
brown/white "1"
• Negative tester probe →
black "2"

b. Measure the ABS ECU voltage.

9. Check:
• ABS-ECU-to-start-switch-lead continuity
No continuity → Replace or repair the wire
harness.

a. Connect the pocket tester (Ω × 1) to the ABS
ECU coupler and right handlebar switch cou-
pler.

• Positive tester probe →
white/blue "1" (ABS ECU)
• Negative tester probe →
white/blue "2" (right handlebar switch)

b. Check for continuity between the ABS ECU
and the start switch lead.

10.Check:
• ABS ECU voltage
Out of specification → Replace the right han-
dlebar switch.
Start switch "ON": less than 1 V
Start switch "OFF": more than 12
V
