PLAY
1. Check:
• Clutch cable free play "a"
Out of specification → Adjust.
Clutch cable free play
5.0–10.0 mm (0.20–0.39 in)
2. Adjust:
• Clutch cable free play

a. Slide back the lever cover "1".
b. Loosen the locknut "2".
c. Turn the adjusting bolt "3" in direction "a" or
"b" until the specified clutch cable free play
is obtained.
Direction "a"
Clutch cable free play is increased.
Direction "b"
Clutch cable free play is decreased.
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
d. Tighten the locknut.
e. Slide the rubber cover to its original posi-
tion.

CHECKING THE BRAKE OPERATION

1. Check:
• Brake operation
Brake not working properly → Check the
brake system.
Refer to "FRONT BRAKE" on page 4-17
and "REAR BRAKE" on page 4-30.
TIP
Drive on the road, operate the front and rear
brakes separately and check to see if the
brakes are operating properly.

ADJUSTING THE FRONT DISC BRAKE

1. Check:
• Brake lever free play "a"
Out of specification → Bleed the front
brake system.
Refer to "BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC
BRAKE SYSTEM" on page 3-11.

WARNING
A soft or spongy feeling in the brake lever
can indicate the presence of air in the brake
system. Before the vehicle is operated, the
air must be removed by bleeding the brake
system. Air in the brake system will consid-
erably reduce braking performance.
