ASSEMBLING THE CARBURETOR

• Before assembling the carburetor, wash
all of the parts in a petroleum-based sol-
vent.
• Always use a new gasket.
1. Install:
• Needle jet
• Needle jet holder "1"
• Main jet "2"
• Pilot jet "3"
• Starter jet "4"
2. Install:
• Needle valve seat
• O-ring
New
• Needle valve
• Float
• Float pin
3. Measure:
• Float height "a"
Out of specification → Adjust.
Float height
13.0 mm (0.51 in)

a. Hold the carburetor in an upside down
position.
b. Measure the distance from the front mating
surface of the float chamber (O-ring
removed) to the top of the float.
TIP
The float arm should be resting on the needle
valve, but not compressing it.
c. If the float height is not within the specifica-
tion, check the valve seat and needle valve.
d. If either is worn, replace the valve seat,
needle valve and O-ring as a set.
e. If both are fine, adjust the float height by
bending the float tang "1" on the float.
f. Recheck the float height.

4. Install:
• Float chamber
• O-ring
New
5. Install:
• Pilot screw "1" (AUS, NZL)
Standard pilot screw turns out
2–1/2 (AUS, NZL)
TIP
Before disassembling the carburetor, make
sure to turn out the pilot screw the same num-
ber of times, as noted before disassembly,
from the seated position to the set position.
6. Install:
• Coasting enricher jet (P.A.J.2)
• Coasting enricher diaphragm
• Diaphragm spring
• Diaphragm cover
