4. Adjust:
• Engine idling speed

a. Turn the pilot screw "1" in until it is lightly
seated. (AUS, NZL)
b. Turn the pilot screw out the specified num-
ber of turns. (AUS, NZL)
Carburetor angle driver
90890-03158
Standard pilot screw turns out
2–1/2 (AUS, NZL)
c. Turn the throttle stop screw "1" in direction
"a" or "b" until the specified idling speed is
obtained.
Direction "a"
Engine idling speed is increased.
Direction "b"
Engine idling speed is decreased.

5. Detach:
• Digital tachometer
6. Adjust:
• Throttle cable free play
Refer to "ADJUSTING THE THROTTLE
CABLE FREE PLAY" on page 3-24.
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
Throttle cable free play
2.0–4.0 mm (0.08–0.16 in)

CHECKING THE CRANKCASE BREATHER
HOSE
1. Check:
• Crankcase breather hose "1"
Cracks/damage → Replace.
Loose connection → Connect properly.

Make sure the crankcase breather hose is
routed correctly.

CHECKING THE EXHAUST SYSTEM

The following procedure applies to all of the
exhaust pipe and gaskets.
1. Check:
• Exhaust pipe "1"
• Muffler "2"
Cracks/damage → Replace.
• Gaskets "3"
Exhaust gas leaks → Replace.
2. Check:
• Tightening torque
Exhaust pipe nut
10 Nm (1.0 m·kgf, 7.2 ft·lbf)
Muffler joint bolt
20 Nm (2.0 m·kgf, 14 ft·lbf)
Muffler bolt
34 Nm (3.4 m·kgf, 25 ft·lbf)
