The user should practise getting into and out of the wheelchair with an attendant until he or she
can do so confidently. The user should be able to get into and out of the chair in one step without
stopping. Next, the user's feet must be positioned on the footplate (Figure 13) and the seating
position can be adjusted, if necessary. Finally, the wheel locks (Figure 14) can be released and
the wheelchair can be used. Reverse steps should be followed for getting out of the chair.
